1 Hand Brace

1 Gear side bracket with gear attached

1 Gudgeon side bracket with black bearing inserted

2 Turnbuckles

4 Ferrules for clamping cables

2 Cables (length determined by height of shade)

2 Safety wire (used to prevent turnbuckles from twisting loose)

2 Tie-Wire hammer-ins for securing bottom of cable to concrete

Lag Bolts for Bracket Attachment - NOT INCLUDED

Sun Shade Bracket

Attach cables to brackets. Pictured at left is the typical cable attachment. Slide ferrule onto cable. Run cable through designated hole and clamp ferrule securely using swaging tool or crimpers.

Note: Cable should be run through the bottom hole that lines up with bottom rail of Sun Shade.

Sun Shade Cable Guide

Attach gudgeon-side bracket to beam (Note: The gear has a stop in both direction)

Twist the eyelet on the gear until it reaches the top stop (rotating in the direction that will move the Sun Shade up-wards). Then twist the gear 3 (three) full turns in the opposite direction.

With the fabric still rolled up on the bottom tube, slip the gear (pre-attached to bracket) into the top tube.

Lift the shade into place and slip the gudgeon shaft into the bearing on the the gudgeon-side bracket. Attach the gear side bracket to beam. (Note: The two bolts holding the gear onto the bracket should be slightly loose to allow access for attaching the bracket)

Once the bracket is attached to the beam, tighten the two gear screws.

Crank Sun Shade Secure Bolt

Slide the cables through the bottom rail eyelits.

Adjust the bottom rail left or right until the eyelits are in line with the cable on the top brackets.

Lower the shade all the way down, making sure the bottom rail does not slide out of position. Once the shade is down, mark the position of the eyelets and cable on the concrete. Roll the Sun Shade up out of the way.

Using a 1/4" concrete bit, drill a 2" deep hole. Seat the bottom of the tie wire hammer-in in the hole and hammer until the neck is flush with the ground.

Put the hook end of the turnbuckle into the eye of the tie-wire hammer-in. (Note: Prepare the turnbuckle by twisting both sides out. Leave only 1/4" to 1/2" of each bolt showing in the middle)

Slide the ferrule onto the end of the cable, through the eye of the turnbuckle and back through the ferrule. Pull the cable as tight as possible while sliding the ferrule down the turnbuckle. Crimp the ferrule.

Run the safety wire through the eye of the tire-wire hammer-in, the center of the turnbuckle and the bottom loop of the cable and twist ends of safety wire together to secure.
